Volume of a Cube

Question

The sum of edges of a cube is 60, what is its volume?

Answer

STEP 1
First, let us determine the number of edges in a cube. There are 12 edges.

STEP 2
Since all edges of a cube are equal in length, we can divide the sum of the edges by the number of edges:

60/12 = 5

Thus, the length of one edge of this cube is equal to 5 units.

STEP 3
Then, to calculate the volume of a cube, its length is to be multiplied by its width, multiplied by its height, or, the length of one edge by the power of three. Thus:

5 x 5 x 5
= 125

Therefore, the volume of this cube is 125 cubic units.
